Archiving

Bookkeepings can be archived in Mill7. This is a manual operation.

All bookkeepings are stored in so-called B-folders which are located in the Mill7\Comp folder.

Each B-folder represents one book year of an administration.

By moving a B-folder to the Mill7\Comp_arch folder, the bookkeeping is archived.

The location of the archive can be made variable via the file datapad_arch.ini.

In that file, an alternate path can be mentioned on the first line. That could even be a location on another server.

The location to which the ini file refers must have the folder Comp_arch present. Create it if it doesn't.

For example, if the file datapad_arch.ini references F:\Archive, then the archive is searched in F:\Archive\Comp_arch.

At the time of archiving (moving), no one may be active in the relevant bookkeepings.

Restart Mill7 after moving bookkeepings and click on the Refresh button in the administration list.

After updating, the relocated bookkeepings have disappeared from the list.

The data of an archived bookkeeping can only be accessed via the Mill7 reporting module, as long as at least one book year of that administration has not been archived.

Archive rollback

If you want to make an archived bookkeeping active again, you can move it from the archive folder to the Mill7\Comp folder.

Start Mill7 and click Refresh in the administration list. The bookkeeping will then appear in the list again.

Updating database

Mill7 updates sometimes physically modify files. Archived bookkeepings are skipped. This can save a lot of time when updating. If a bookkeeping is restored from the archive, Mill7 recognizes this bookkeeping as an old bookkeeping and the database of this administration is immediately updated upon opening.
